Happy New Year!

Can you believe it’s almost 2011 already? Some great things have happened at Precise this year, and we’re definitely thankful for all of our retailers, distributors, customers and, of course, our Precise pets.

Here’s a rundown of some of our highlights in 2010:

We launched a new website, with a new Pet Zone, blog and lots of other fun and informative features.
We announced our newest pet food formulations for cats and dogs, Precise Holistic Complete.
We traveled to pet tradeshow SuperZoo to share Precise Holistic Complete with pet food retailers, media and distributors.
We started Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages to connect with our customers and their pets.
We added new faces to our staff, and are even hiring for more.
We worked with great people like The Great Dane Lady Linda Arndt, a canine nutritional consultant who helped develop Precise Holistic Complete.

We’ll be back here on the blog with more news, Ask Our Vet Q&As, Meet the Precise Team video interviews, Quality Time posts and even more next year.

Meet the Precise Team: Pete Pennell, western regional sales director

We make all our own dry food, in-house in the USA, by pet owning experts who take great pride in what they do. In our Meet the Precise Team series, we’ll introduce you to some of the people that make Precise Pet Products run.

Our sales staff is always up on the latest pet food industry news and the healthiest options for your dogs and cats – but Pete Pennell, our western regional sales director, is also a pro at geography. That’s probably because he oversees all of the retailer relationships we have in the western part of the country, and works with Helen Hurd and Tom Ruha to deliver Precise formulations such as our new Precise Holistic Complete to pet owners and their furry friends.

Mailbag: Puppy and kitten packets for breeders

Each month, Marnee White, who knows Precise like the back of her hand, will answer questions we get through our customer service e-mails and phone calls.

Q: Does Precise offer puppy and kitten packets to breeders?

A. Absolutely – and our breeders just love these packets! Breeders can request them through their distributors or directly from Precise at 888-477-3247. These packets for both puppies and kittens consist of a congratulations letter, Certificate of Pedigree, coupon for a free starter bag, $3 off bounce-back coupon and a vaccination record chart.

Quality Time: New Packaging Machines

Mike Compton is vice president of operations at Precise’s parent company, Texas Farm Products Company, and is responsible for the operations, quality assurance and nutritional content of our pet food. Each month on the blog, he shares how we keep our pet food safe and healthy. Read past Quality Time blog posts here.

Our new Precise Holistic Complete formulas have several one-of-a-kind features and ingredients. The formulas include sustainable DHAgold^® omega-3s to support cognitive learning, and probiotic Bacillus coagulans to aid digestion. In addition, the new line’s bags have side handles for easier carrying and pouring, and slide-closure tops. These new features make life easier on our customers.

To produce these new bags, we installed new packaging machines in February of this year. These machines maintain control of the bags in each step of the packaging process:
