Karen White writes:
Precise Holistic Complete has changed the life of my dog, Rudy. Two years ago I thought I was buying the best food on the market, but then Rudy started sleeping all the time and gaining a lot of weight. He got to where he wouldn’t play with any of his toys. I took him to my vet, and they ran tests and checked him over but couldn’t find a thing wrong except he had gained too much weight.

I decided to change his food, and I compared all the brands of food and the companies. Precise Holistic Complete had everything I wanted in a food. I am now on my second  bag and Rudy is a changed dog! He’s running and playing. He’s a new dog. I never thought a food could make such a difference in a dog. Thank you to all the people on the Precise team!

Thank you Karen for sharing your story! We are excited to hear that Precise is helping Rudy look and feel his best!

Mailbag: Does Precise make a formula with beef?

Each month, Marnee White, who knows Precise like the back of her hand, will answer questions we get through our customer service e-mails and phone calls.

Q: Does Precise make a formula with beef?

A: Though we’re all about beef in Texas, beef is a controversial issue due to past BSE (mad cow) regulations that many governments restrict for import/export. Since we are shipping to over 40 countries, we cannot have beef ingredients in our dry formulas that we produce in our Nacogdoches, Texas plant.  We do offer a compliment of canned formulas in our Precise and Precise Holistic Complete formulations that contain beef ingredients.

Mailbag: Why are prebiotics and probiotics important?

Each month, Marnee White, who knows Precise like the back of her hand, will answer questions we get through our customer service e-mails and phone calls.

Q: I just purchased Precise Holistic Complete and saw that it contains both prebiotics and probiotics. Why are these important?

A: Precise has formulated Precise Holistic Complete to contain both prebiotics and probiotics for your pet’s health. Prebiotics are a special form of dietary fiber that assists in nourishing and stimulating good bacteria growth within the intestines. Probiotics are live, natural bacteria that help in the fight against bad bacteria within the intestinal track, helping to maintain regular digestion.

Probiotics can be found in all Precise Pet food formulas, including the Precise Foundation formula.

Great Dane Lady Approved: Tips for treating stomach disorders

The Great Dane Lady, Linda Arndt, has more than 40 years of experience as a canine nutritional consultant and breeder. In our Great Dane Lady Approved series, Linda will talk about her research and work with Precise. You can explore Linda’s website at GreatDaneLady.com.

It can be frustrating and discouraging when a pet is suffering from poor health and traditional treatments seem to be failing. I recently received an email from a disheartened pet owner who was desperately looking for answers when it came to her dog’s poor health. Suffering from vomiting, gas and diarrhea, the Great Dane was not responding well to a new diet. If your pet has tested positive for food allergies, I recommend trying the Precise Sensicare formula. The Precise Sensicare Lamb & Rice formula is a “single source protein” formula and was specifically developed for dogs with food allergies and contains no wheat, corn, soy, beef or poultry products. The balanced combination of natural antioxidants, vitamins and chelated minerals, and important prebiotics and probiotics provide all the nutrition for your sensitive dog’s needs.

However, if your pet is experiencing diarrhea like the dog mentioned above, it may be due to giardia which is a waterborne protozoa and difficult to detect. Here is more info on giardia. Another problem could be systemic yeast problems rather than food allergies. Your pet might be experiencing a systemic yeast overgrowth in the gut. This article from my website helps to further explain systemic yeast overgrowth. There are several Precise foods suitable for systemic yeast issues, and the Grain Free lineup is highly recommended for dogs with this problem.

Introducing Grain Free Precise Holistic Complete

We recently launched our Grain Free Precise Holistic Complete and have had a great response! Wondering why we decided to add this formula? Here’s some background from the Precise team (Ramona Keith, marketing manager; Dr. Lisa Drapela, staff veterinarian; Mike Compton, vice president of operations; and Linda Arndt, “The Great Dane Lady”).

Introducing Grain Free Precise Holistic Complete
With the recent explosion of grain free formulas in the pet food market, we knew that we needed to develop grain free options for our customers as well. Pet foods that would combine the same exceptional nutrition of Precise Holistic Complete, with the rising demand for grain free diets. But we were concerned with the possibility of compromising our superior foods by rushing into products that were not well conceived.

So after careful consideration and research, we developed our formulas with moderate levels of protein, that are tried and true, common sense levels that work well for all breeds and all life stages of dogs and cats. The meat sources of the protein include lamb, turkey, pork, and chicken. We use garbanzo beans (also known as chick peas), a low glycemic and gluten-free alternative to potatoes, in our canine formulas to provide necessary carbohydrates. Our feline formula uses Spring Yellow Peas, which also provide a wonderful source of carbohydrates that are lacking when the grains are removed. Both types of peas provide extra protein, fiber, and other beneficial nutrients and minerals. Plus, the valuable protein they provide does not interfere with the delicate mineral balance of the food, thus eliminating the need for more added minerals in the final product.

Once we had these major considerations established, we knew that by combining them with the Life Circle Essentials of our original holistic line, we would have foods that are nutritious and safe, and that address concerns such as allergies, obesity, and digestibility. Quality proteins, natural antioxidant vitamins, balanced fatty acids, probiotics and prebiotics, and select herbal and botanical ingredients. Plus the remarkable supplements that offer unique benefits to our pet foods.

We think our new Grain Free Precise Holistic Complete formulas were worth the wait. Same exceptional nutrition, zero grains. And as always, exceptional nutrition that promotes health, happiness, and harmony . . . for a lifetime.

Precise Pet Products is a subsidiary of Texas Farm Products Company, an 80 year-old, family- owned and independently minded company, that makes our own food and has a 100 percent safety record.
