If you’re near Cape Coral, Fla., this is an event you don’t want to miss! SunCoast DockDogs and the Cape Coral Cardboard Boat Regatta are teaming up to bring you an event that will make a splash (literally)!
When: Friday to Sunday, April 15-17 (Click here for specific event dates and times)
Where: Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral, Fla.
What: Dogs will be jumping, flying, splashing and swimming all weekend! This event is open to any dog regardless of breed, shape or size. Dogs participate in the sport of jumping off docks to fetch toys, and DockDogs have created their own set of rules for judging the competition.
There are three different contests:
- Big Air: The long jump equivalent for canines. Dogs will jump off the end of a 40-foot dock into a 28,000-gallon pool to retrieve a floatable object.
- Extreme Vertical: The high jump contest where participants attempt to knock down a bumper suspended over the water.
- Speed Retrieve: Dogs are split into team and each individual runs, jumps, swims, and retrieves an object 58 ft. from the starting block.
